One of Lardner's
greatest contributions to American letters is his offspring. His
sons were all writers, and many of their offspring (as well as
nieces, nephews, etc.) have become writers themselves. I will use
these pages to briefly introduce you to the many writing Lardners and to
the family in general.

Ring Lardner, Jr., son of Ring Lardner, Academy Award winning screenwriter, and member of
the Hollywood Ten. This page includes a short biographical timeline and filmography.

A very incomplete listing of some of the published work of various members of the Lardner
clan. Writing is the Lardner family business.

Lardner Family History I: England to Michigan
A brief sketch of the Lardners from the time they arrived in America in
the early 1700s until some of them moved to Michigan a hundred years
later. The very distinguished family includes war heroes, governors,
and businessmen. Ring Lardner's famous name also has its roots in
this era.

Cemetery in Niles, Michigan
Photos of the Lardner family gravestones in Niles. Ring's parents,
grandparents, and several other relatives are buried there.
- A Lardner Family Bible
Belonging to the family of William Lardner (cousin of Ring's grandfather),
the bible contains many family records and other interesting ephemera.

Ring Lardner often wrote about Niles, Michigan, his birthplace, and the surrounding
Michiana area. His family was an important part of Niles life. This page
