Zanzibar was performed in Niles, Michigan, at the Opera House by The American Minstrels, a local performance group of which Lardner was a member.  Lardner is credited with the lyrics and music for the play, but his style comes through in much of the dialogue as well.  He and his brother Rex also performed in the play.

The following is a scan of the original program.  Words are missing on some pages, and the quality is less than perfect on others.

The first half of the program is filled with advertisements and production notes.  It is clear that the American Minstrels did a good job promoting the play.

The second half of the program reproduces the script itself.
