BY R. W. LARDNER.
JUST GUFF.
Said Philly (A. L.) to Chicago (A. L.):
"O, wouldnt this race be a laugh,
If commy could just be persuaded to sell
To Connie his whole pitching staff?"
Said Chicago (A. L.) to Philly (A. L.):
"Of course what I think little matters,
But I guess he would give you his catchers as well
If you would just hand him your batters."
Said Philly (N. L.) to Chicago (N. L.):
"Wed cop, pulling hard on the reins,
If Johnny could just be persuaded to sell
To our bunch a few of his brains."
Said Chicago (N. L.) to Philly (N. L.):
"Now, as for all cash offers, nixey.
But hed trade you his brains and his features as well
For Alex, and Seaton and Rixey."
